Mike Monroy sets the rhythm in Porto

Yesterday we received the visit of Mike Monroy, Assistant Area Governor for Areas H1 and H2, who travelled to Porto for a three-in-one event: Officer training, Club dinner and Toastmasters meeting.

Training started off around 19:00, a structured and to-the-point session attended not only by OTC Officers but also by several other interested club members. Afterwards, the group of almost 20 people headed for the restaurant at Escola de Gestão do Porto, where a varied and tasteful buffet awaited. Dinner was, of course, an excellent opportunity to socialize and to get to know fellow colleagues better. At the end, a Porto wine toast to the Club and to the evening's guests helped to set spirits high and to open the way for our weekly meeting.

Acting as Toastmaster of the event, Mike made a point in showing everybody why and how we should "dance our way through life". The meeting was undoubtedly dynamic and also enriched by the presence of guest speaker Maria João Costa (consultant at Laboratório da Formação in Lisbon and teacher at EGP), who presented her current training program on presentation skills and offered a few tips for the nervous speaker.

Throughout the entire evening, Mike constantly provided us with tips for an effective leadership of a Toastmasters Club, experience-sharing advice and, of course, amusing stories which he has collected in the course of his many journeys.

Therefore, on behalf of Oporto Toastmasters, I would like to leave here a sincere THANK YOU to our very welcomed visitor, Mike Monroy.

Hope to see you again soon!
